The band does not take part in competitions and mainly concentrates on entertaining concerts raising money for charities either independently or joining forces with other bands and choirs. It’s first rehearsal was in the Orchards Extra Care facility in Brompton in October 2007 and since then has gone from strength to strength. The band’s Musical Director, James Corking, was appointed last year, PGCE ARSM RNCM graduate 2023. He is a professional trumpet player currently on tour with The Addams Family musical. He’s also performed at the Newcastle Theatre Royal Panto and played with Foden’s Brighouse & Rastrick, Leyland, Elland Silver, Strat & Fishburn at venues including Carnegie Hall New York (with the Tees Valley Youth Orchestra), Royal Albert Hall and Glasshouse Gateshead.
