YOUTH FOR CHRIST (TEES VALLEY YFC)
Youth for Christ has been taking the Good News relevantly to young people in the Tees Valley for over ten years through its work in schools and churches, housing estate outreach work and local missions. During this time Tees Valley YFC has grown to become one of the largest Youth for Christ centres in Britain.
The centre engages with young people in their own school settings through religious education classes and mentoring, as well as during lunch breaks and after-school clubs.
On evenings and weekends, the Tees Valley YFC’s staff and volunteers build relationships with young people through sports outreach, social activity and involvement in local campaigns.
The Stokesley School Churches Youth Project began in 2003 and is currently lead by Matty Cross.
Café Church is a blossoming TVYFC initiative that aims to unite churches, youth groups and Christians across the Tees Valley. Matty, Jared and Becci host the Café Church here in Stokesley at the Costa Coffee Shop, near the Town Hall. It takes place on the first Tuesday of the month, from 7.00-8.00pm. Over drinks and cakes, the group hold discussions, share experiences, listen to guest speakers, reflect on local, national and world-wide issues, pray and praise together in fellowship, amongst other things!
Many of our young people (and their parents!) attend this monthly Café Church event and enjoy engaging in lots of exciting extra-activities on offer which include charity events, residentials and other community-based projects.
Jesus was a great example of how to serve the local community, encourage others and live a life filled with purpose and love. Our young people have, and are, reaping the benefits of this encouragement and we can see that God is on the move in this area.
The work of TVYFC is upheld by local sponsors, gifts from churches and monthly-giving by individuals, as well as some grant funding.
