SCHUBERT Movement in B flat D 471
NAUMANN String Trio op 12
SIBELIUS String Trio in G minor
BEETHOVEN String Trio op 9 no 1

We’re delighted to welcome the New World String Trio who today make their TMS debut.
They begin their richly diverse concert with benchmark Schubert. The romanticism of Naumann, including a slow movement of lyrical beauty, provides a suitable contrast. The second half starts with a major work by the young Sibelius which confirmed his growing reputation as Finland’s leading composer. The concert concludes with one of the seminal works in the trio repertoire – predictably written by Beethoven. These musicians are all full time members of Orchestra of Opera North. Leader Andrew Long plays a Guaneri ‘Del Gesu’ violin of 1735.
