Update 13 December 2021 – Update of Government Guidance for Places of Worship (Methodist Connexion website)

You can read more by following this link: COVID-19: guidance for the safe use of places of worship – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The legal requirement to wear face coverings in most public indoor venues has been extended to places of worship. Some people, including people with disabilities, are exempt from having to wear face coverings in any setting.

There are exemptions for those leading a service or giving a reading. We would still encourage everyone to continue to wear their face coverings while singing if they feel able to do so. However, we recognise that not everyone will feel able to do this. Therefore, there will be a reasonable excuse to remove a mask to sing if someone wishes to do so.

Our main aim is to enable everyone within and outside the church to have access to worship, teaching and support, safely & responsibly. In the meantime:

ü  Please do not come to church if you feel unwell or suspect you might have Covid 19.

ü  Please use the hand sanitiser as you arrive & leave.

ü  You may enter & leave by the front door, but please be aware of others to avoid congestion.

ü  The rows of seating are safely spaced. There are no social distancing rules, although the risks to those deemed vulnerable need to be considered.

ü  Please deter from shaking hands and hugging others. The virus is still very active and everyone needs to take care.

ü  Communal singing is possible once more, though wearing of a covering whilst singing is advised.

ü  The services will still be live streamed, so if you are still nervous about coming to church, or simply can’t manage for 10:30, it will be available on-line.

Many thanks for your cooperation.
