God in love unites us: Marriage and Relationships Report 2019

‘God in Love Unites Us’ — the 2019 Methodist Conference made some important recommendations about the Methodist position on marriage and relationships. In the Spring of 2020, District Synods will be considering and voting on these recommendations and feeding back to the Conference.

What will happen?

The Darlington District is offering a series of local opportunities to reflect on the recommendations of the Marriage and Relationships report. The aim of the evenings is to provide an opportunity for open, honest, respectful sharing, for prayer and conversation about how God is calling the Methodist Church at this time and reflection on what this may mean for local churches and circuits.

Who can attend?

Each session is open to anyone from across the district. Please note, it is particularly important that Synod reps attend at least one session.

We are hosting one of the Roadshows/Consultations for the Stokesley Circuit, on Thursday 28th November 2019 beginning at 7pm with tea and coffee and then the sessions running from 7.30pm until 9.30pm

The issues the report explores are those that some Methodists feel very strongly about and which we have been debating for more than a quarter of a century (and in some cases, much longer).

They are topics that touch the core of our being (What does it mean to be human and to be in love? What should, what can, we do about it?). We are required to draw on the resources of our faith in our response (What does the Bible tell us about this? What has the tradition of the Church said?).

This time of reflection on the theology of Marriage & Relationships is imperative if we are to move forward as a Church for the modern age.

Please give this event your prayers & go along if you can – all are welcome.
