Messy Church

Fresh Expressions is a movement within the Church that seeks to show how Churches are “being Church” in different ways for different people & situations. Messy Church is a time when families can come together to enjoy being together, making things together, eating together & celebrating God together through his word, through music & through prayers. With Messy Church we are trying to be a worshipping community of all ages. One of the strengths & glories of the Messy Church identity is that it is a church for the whole family. It is a place where all ages are valued & where everyone gains from being in contact with people of other ages.

TODAY we are holding a Circuit Messy Church to which you are all invited, commencing at 2.00pm.

The session will run something like this:

1.45pm  – Doors open (Church Hall), people arrive, drinks & biscuits served, everyone plays table games eg jig-saws, board games, colouring, word searches.

2.00pm – Welcome & introduction to what will happen.

2.15pm till 3.00pm – Craft time, everyone gets free range to have a go at as many activities as you can.

3.00pm – Celebration Service with songs & story-telling.

3.30pm till 3.50pm – High Tea

3.50pm – Birthdays

4.00pm – Farewell & notification of future Messy Church events

This time our theme is ‘Sharing’ and we will be thinking about when Jesus fed the Five Thousand with five loaves and two fishes. We’ll be having a Puppet Show and making our own puppets to take home. Then we’ll be making picnic boxes and filling them with lots of lovely things to eat for a shared picnic.

If you can provide a tray bake or cake, we would be most grateful.

If you can help in any way on the day, such as moving & setting out the furniture, over-seeing a craft activity, helping to serve the tea, washing up, please contact Katherine Atha (01642 711220), Doreen Hunt (01642 711191) or Lesley Jackson (01642 71781).

It would be lovely for our Messy Church visitors to meet some of our church family, so please feel free to pop in during the afternoon, have a cup of tea & say ‘hello’.
